The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies is a UGC-recognized university established in
2003 through the UPES Act, 2003 of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand and has been
accredited grade "A" by NAAC. The university has received 5-Stars for employability, academic

globally acclaimed QS Rating. UPES offers industry-aligned and specialised graduate and
postgraduate programmes through its seven schools: the School of Engineering, School of

UPES Dehradun Courses and Fees
UPES currently offers over 20 degree and diploma programmes. The School of Engineering,
School of Computer Science, School of Design, and School of Health Sciences all offer courses at
the UPES Bidholi campus. The UPES Kandoli campus, on the other hand, provides courses
through the School of Law, School of Business, and School of Modern Media. The University
uses a comprehensive framework called the 'Immersive Academic Study Framework' for all of
these courses, which incorporates individualised instruction and mutually exclusive learning

UPES Admission Process
For admission to its courses, UPES Dehradun holds numerous entrance tests, including
UPESMET, UPESEAT, ULSAT, and UPESDAT. It takes national-level entrance tests such as JEE Main,
CAT, XAT, CLAT, LSAT, and others in addition to university-conducted entry exams. Entrance or
merit-based admissions are available for all courses.
UPES Scholarship Details
Under all of the programmes, the university offers over ten different scholarships. From course
to course, the scholarship amount or percentage varies. The following are the details for UPES
scholarships:
●Scholarships for BTech students include the following:
Scholarships are given to BTech students depending on their Class 10 and 12 or JEE Main
scores. In addition, BTech students are eligible for a Merit-Based Scholarship. Candidates with an
the aggregate of 80% in PCM in CBSE/ICSE/State Examination Board in Class 10 and Class 12 are
eligible for a 50% tuition fee remission for the first semester. Scholarships are available for a
maximum of 10% of seats in each BTech speciality.
●Scholarships for MTech students include the following:
On the basis of their GATE scores, MTech students are given a scholarship. Candidates who
score higher than 70% in GATE will receive a monthly scholarship of Rs. 12,400. Candidates must
maintain an 8.0 CGPA/ SGPA in each semester to continue receiving this award in consecutive
semesters. Aside from that, MTech students may be eligible for a stipend of up to Rs 50,000 for
outcome-based research if they follow the University's rules and regulations.
●BA LLB, BBA LLB, and BCom LLB students are eligible for the following scholarships:
LLB students are given a scholarship depending on their CLAT/LSAT percentage or rank. In
addition, LLB students are eligible for a Merit-Based Scholarship. This scholarship is based on
the combined grades of Class 10 and Class 12. Candidates who receive an average score of 75
per cent in Class 10 and Class 12 are eligible for a 50% tuition remission.
●Scholarships for MBA students include the following:
MBA students are awarded scholarships based on their CAT percentile. This award is open to
those who scored over the 85th percentile on the CAT. MBA candidates who score a minimum
of 80% on the CAT/XAT or a minimum of 90% on the MAT/NMAT/UPESMET or any other
national-level entrance exams are eligible for a 25% tuition fee remission in the first semester.
●The following are a few of the University's additional scholarships:
UPES has announced a 20% grant for female students. Tuition is reduced by 33% for students
from Uttarakhand, with female students receiving an additional 20% scholarship on top of the
domicile price reduction, for a total scholarship of 46% for all female students from
Uttarakhand.
This year, the University announced the COVID Scholarship, which provides wards of COVID
frontline warriors (doctors, nurses, municipal employees, military, paramilitary, police, and
others) with up to a 20% tuition fee scholarship, and up to a 100% all-inclusive fee scholarship
to students who have lost a parent to COVID-19.
It has also offered a 20% discount on the cost of one-year tuition for the children of
instructors.
Placements at UPES Dehradun
UPES placements 2021 have begun for all programmes at the University of Petroleum and
Energy Studies. It also offers summer internships to its students in addition to placements.
UPES offers placements in a variety of industries, including consulting, IT & Software,
E-Commerce, BFSI, and more. The university expects to have placed 94 per cent of its students
by 2020, with the highest remuneration package of Rs. 45 LPA.
